Description

This contract is for appointment of consultants to produce a costed mitigation strategy that will address the adverse biodiversity impacts of traffic generated air pollution on the East Devon Pebblebed Heaths. For the East Devon Local Plan to progress to adoption (and future development to occur) it must satisfy the requirements of the Habitat Regulations. Assessment work undertaken to date advises of concerns at the Pebblebed Heaths arising from increased vehicles using roads that cross the heaths, on account of additional development, leading to further deterioration. This work is needed as a means to identify viable mitigation projects that will address impacts, allow development to go ahead and also to ensure the local plan can proceed through Examination to adoption.
