Description
The Golden Jubilee National Hospital intend to purchase a robotic — assisted surgical system together with maintenance and consumables. The National Waiting Times Centre Board intends to enter into a contract with Intuitive Surgical as being the only option meeting our requirement. In accordance with our interpretation of the Public Contracts Regulations 2015 the services can only be provided by the particular provider for technical reasons and competition is therefore absent for technical reasons due to the unique essential requirements of the equipment require, namely Intuitive Surgical is currently the only manufacturer of commercially available robotic-assisted surgical systems offering robotic four-arm multi-port technology and a suite of fully wristed 8 mm instrumentation, wristed advanced energy and stapling instruments, flourescence imaging, integrated table motion and skills simulation, on a single platform, capable of performing minimally invasive surgical procedures. Due to the above functionality the system seamlessly translates the surgeons hand, wrist and finger movements of the master controls into precise real time movements of the wristed instrument that are designed with 7 degrees of motion — a range of motions even greater than the human wrist, The vision is equipped with a high definition 3D endoscope and image processing equipment that provides to true to life images of the patients anatomy. A view of the operating field is available to the entire operating room team on a large viewing monitor. The wide angled screen provides the surgical assistant at the patients side with a broad perspective and visualisation of the procedure whilst the surgeon operates seated at a console with the master controls viewing a high definition 3D image inside the patients body. The Intuitive Surgical Da Vinci Systems remains the most ubiquitous robot designed to facilitate complex minimally invasive surgery across multiple specialities and multiple body compartments. The Intuitive Surgical Robot Da Vinci has been the subject of in excess of 7000 peer review publications and studies with a wealth of regulatory approvals covering a wide spectrum of surgical procedures much greater than alternatives with lesser functionality available on the market. No other commercially available surgical robot facilitates multidisciplinary applications planned for the Golden Jubilee National Hospital.
