Aims and objectives of service • To provide a consistent, comprehensive, effective, accessible, legal and appropriate termination of pregnancy service to service users • To provide a quality service informed by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists Guideline for the "Care of Women Requesting Induced Abortion" MEDFASH standards for sexual health services, and current best evidence • To ensure that risk of infection and other complications to service users is minimised • To ensure that opportunities to provide sexual health information, contraceptives and screening advice are maximised Service description/care pathway The Service will provide: • Counselling & Assessment • A choice of termination of pregnancy methods clinically appropriate for a service user's gestation and clinical circumstances. This includes medical and surgical procedures under both local and general anaesthetic • Contraception - full range of reversible contraceptive options to be available for women on the same day as the procedure • Sexual health and screening advise • Follow up after care
