Control of invasive non-native cotoneaster at Llanddulas SSSI

Description
Cotoneaster species were originally introduced to the UK from Asia in the 19th century as an ornamental garden species. Since then, cotoneaster has spread widely across the UK including to important limestone crags, cliffs, slopes and dry grasslands in north Wales. As part of the Cotoneaster Control Project this contract will aim to control non-native cotoneaster species on part of a limestone grassland Site of Special Scientific Interest at Llanddulas in north Wales. This contract will be carried out over two phases: Phase one Main control of cotoneaster with the aim to treat all cotoneaster within the work area. Phase Two Control of cotoneaster regrowth. The contractor will employ multiple different methods of treatment, following the guidelines provided. Treatment will include foliar spraying, stump treatment and the use of weed wipers. Relevant qualifications will be needed, including PA1 and PA6AW.
