The United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) is mandatory for any doctor wishing to work in North America. The USMLE is a three-step licensing exam that includes a series of computerised multiple-choice questions (MCQs). In order for a student to receive a license to practice medicine in the USA, that student must pass all three steps of the USMLE. The Step 1 exam determines access to residencies in each student’s chosen speciality in the USA. The GEMS have a significant Non EU intake each year (approx. 45 students per year, one third of each class cohort) so there is a need to engage the services of an e-learning provider to enable the Medical students prepare for and successfully complete the Step 1 exam.
