New Train Planning Software Solution - Market Engagement

ScotRail are conducting market engagement to understand the capabilities of potential suppliers to provide a train planning software solution. As a minimum, any system should be able to deliver a product that allows the creation and manipulation of train schedules, planning of vehicle movements and work content of various grades of staff in the form of shifts. It is essential that these elements are fully integrated in one system and that information can be shared in/out with minimal manual intervention required. It is anticipated that suppliers can also demonstrate an ability to deliver enhancements that build on the reliability of existing train planning systems e.g. optimisation of train crew and rolling stock diagrams, compliance with planning rules, comparison with actual train running to compare for performance reasons, integrating passenger counts to guide capacity provision etc. ScotRail wishes to procure and implement software for the purposes of planning train services.
