School catering services

Description

Faringdon Academy of Schools is a Multi Academy Trust based in Faringdon and the surrounding villages. There are eight schools in the Trust — seven primary schools and one secondary with Sixth Form provision. Faringdon Academy of Schools is conducting a tender process to award a contract for the provision of both cleaning and catering services to commence on 1 September 2020. At present the Trust schools are a mix of in-house and outsourced provision for both cleaning and catering services. Due to the diverse nature of the two services being tendered, the award criteria at the Invitation to Tender stage is different for each lot as follows: • lots 1 to 8: cleaning, • quality: 75 %, • price: 25 %, • lot 9 - 15: catering, • suality: 85 %, • price: 15 %. Faringdon Academy of Schools requires a Contractor to undertake the cleaning services in accordance with good practice so as to provide a high standard of cleanliness throughout the Trust schools every day for the benefit of the staff and pupils, the local community and to provide an inviting environment for visitors. The contractor will be responsible for the provision of skilled cleaning operatives to provide an efficient and timely cleaning service. They will need to ensure that curriculum used areas are safe and fit for purpose and that all other areas are kept tidy and reflect well on the Trust schools. Daily and periodic cleaning is required as part of the scope of services. The Trust are looking for a Contractor who is able to offer a reliable service with staff who are conscientious and want to do a good job. The Trust currently has a mix of in-house and outsourced cleaning services. Some personnel are term time only and others are all year round. TUPE will apply and several of the personnel employed directly by the Trust are part of the Local Government Pension Scheme. Full Admitted Body Status will be required for the winning bidder. The Trust requires a Contractor to undertake the catering service for all year groups in accordance with good practice; to ensure the provision of a high standard of food service for the benefit of all stakeholders including school staff, pupils, and visitors to the Trust. The Contractor will be responsible for the provision of a full food catering service for the pupils and staff at the Trust schools (with the exception of Buckland Church of England Primary School which will remain an in-house provision for the time being). Where applicable, services provided will consist of breakfast, morning break and full lunch service for each day at the schools (please see the individual school sections in the tender documentation for confirmation of requirements). In addition, some hospitality catering will be required particularly for inset days, Open Evenings and external supplier events. The Trust currently has a mix of in-house and outsourced staff with employees directly employed by the Trust working alongside employees from a Contractor. The present contracts have been in place since February 2013 at three of the Trust schools and February 2018 for the remaining four. Some personnel are term time only and others are all year round.
