Description
Bord na Móna Resource Recovery owns and operates the Drehid Waste Management Facility (WMF) at Killinagh Upper, Carbury, Co. Kildare, Ireland W91 RC82. The Drehid WMF is Bord na Móna’s most extensive waste management facility. The facility was granted planning permission in 2005 and commenced operations in February 2008. The location of the Drehid WMF is shown on Drawing No. 11290-2000. The proposed further development, which is subject to planning permission approval, will be located adjacent to the existing facility within the Bord na Móna land-holding and will utilise the existing entrance and access road from the R403. This application is currently under consideration by ABP. Further background on this proposed development is contained in the Planning Application, Environmental Impact Assessment Report (EIAR), Planning Drawings and Response to Request for Further Information which can be assessed on www.drehid2023sid.ie. Bord na Móna is seeking tenders from competent Contractors for the excavation and deposition of peat deposits to facilitate further development at the Drehid Waste Management Facility. The proposed works will require the excavation of circa 151,905 m3 of peat from the footprint of the proposed landfill cells, contractor’s compound, surface water attenuation pond and associated infrastructure as per Drawing No. 2024-PEAT-1 provided. Peat depths and actual volumes to be confirmed by survey. The peat will be excavated to the top of the underlying subsoils in the areas as shown and hauled within the site, to be deposited for use as an environmental screening berms in various locations as shown on Drawing No. 2024-PEAT-2. It is expected that Contractors will utilise appropriate low ground pressure machinery for the excavation, haulage and deposition works and will be required to provide details of same in their Tender submission. Please note that during the peat strip, monitoring of the topsoil stripping will be carried out by an archaeologist appointed by Bord na Móna. This Tender requires the peat strip works to be completed in the following order, as shown on Drawing No. 2024-PEAT-1, such that the areas can be handed over to the subsequent Contractor to commence construction works: Activity: 1. Cell 1 of Phases 16 and 17 – Handover Area 1 2. Extension of Internal Road, Contractors Yard and SWL7 – Handover Area 2 3.
