SOFT MARKET TESTING<br />The University of Southampton is conducting Soft Market Testing to allow interested organisations to express their interest in this project and to provide information that will inform the future procurement activities and scope for the eventual Invitation to tender documents. The University is not treating the exercise as part of a formal procurement process, nor shall the University be committed to carrying out such a process. For instructions on how to respond to this Soft Market Testing exercise please see the enclosed Cover Letter. <br /><br />PROJECT BACKGROUND<br />The University has committed to achieve net zero on greenhouse gas emissions by 2030. The key part of the future heating systems strategy is to migrate the existing building heating loads to low carbon technology electric source heat generating plant. This will significantly increase the electrical load of the campus. As part of the planned works for the University of Southampton’s Highfield Campus upgrades, an Offer from SSE for 17.8MVA was accepted in Q4 2024. This secures the power required and ensures the enabling works required from SSE are completed. The next step is now to secure a contractor to deliver the works and obtain the best commercial terms for its operation.
