Summary of work You will be working as part of an internal multidisciplinary Mobility product team leading on all technical aspects of the product including technical strategy, technical roadmap, high level designs and technical leadership. You will be accountable for the high level designs and architecture decisions. You will bring to team your recommendations and insights that focuses on improving the user experience for the product, reduces technical debt and enhances product maturity. Where the supplied staff will work North West England Why the work is being done The mobile services product is responsible for over 20,000 mobile devices across the whole of the DWP. We are responsible for the management, security, infrastructure and applications for this product along with the service management for all aspects of the service. Mobile Services provide devices for users who are on the move and need to continue to work. We continually strive to make the best possible product for our users and improve the user experience. Architect is an essential part of our product. Lead Mobile Architect is responsible for the product technical strategy, technical roadmap, high level design and technical leadership of the mobile service. Service must remain user focused, and due to the nature of mobile, service must move with the advances in technology and the expectations of its users. Mobile service is currently in a stable state with team now focusing to provide the best value for money. Few current and upcoming projects include BYOD, Mobile Threat Defence, consolidating MDM in DWP across different product teams, developing mobile app and implementing eSim with an aim to improve the user experience, enhance self service, provide value for money and reduce operational overhead. All of this needs to be done without impact the BAU and current service offering. The business problem "DWP Mobile services is a stable product and have been providing reliable mobile services to the employees. Product is now in its lifecycle where the intent is to improve the services even further by enhancing user experience and improving value for money. In the next few months we want to rollout a BYOD solution, improve threat defence and security, implement immutable infrastructure as code, do a strategic review of Mobile Device Management (MDM) tool and update overall product's 5 year strategy. While the product team has got required engineering, anaysis and delivery skills within the team, there is a requirement for architecture knowledge and experience in enterprise mobile device management to ensure right technical solutions are implemented in right way. Lead mobile architect will be required to deliver the updated technical strategy and high level design for the product to ensure that best solution is provided for this next phase of the product lifecycle. They will be required to bring their strategic focus along with experience and knowledge of wide technical spectrum that makes enterprise mobile technical products implementation to enable the product success.
