Published
Description
The Community Skills and Enterprise Project (CS&E) is one of five priority projects identified in the Town Investment Plan (TIP). The aim of the CS&E is to enhance the adult education offered in the city by expanding inclusive training facilities at existing community centres with a focus on teaching vocational skills. The community centres play an important role supporting Worcester’s deprived communities providing general community and youth activities. The key outputs expected to arise upon completion of the CS&E are: • Refurbishment, extension or reconfiguration of buildings; • Provision of digital infrastructure and vocational training equipment; • Increase in capacity and accessibility to new or improved skills facilities for deprived areas of Worcester; • 1 established training network; • 4,377 learners achieving entry level, VQ level 1, 2, 3 qualifications over the first 5 years. Page 4 to 9 The CS&E is a joint undertaking between Worcester City Council (WCC) and Worcester Community Trust (WCT). WCT is a registered charity that runs six Community Hubs in the City of Worcester providing facilities for community use. The capital delivery phase will be led by WCC including procurement of all works required to deliver the project. Training will be led by WCT. This commission is for the provision of the Design Team services required for the delivery of building facilities to enable training and established community uses at five community centres included in the CS&E as follows: 1. Dines Green community centre • Delivery of a new, purpose-built unit – Building Block 2 - to house a new, construction and green technology skills centre; 2.
