Description

Wolverhampton is a city with a population of 600,000 residents and circa 108,000 households. CWC operate two Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) with 15,000-20,000 visits to each site per month. We currently collect green waste in 240 litre bins as a fortnightly collection by paid subscription or for free at our HWRC's. In 2024/2025 we had 39,000 active subscribers. We collected over 13,000 tonnes in 2024/2025 that was delivered to our current disposal provider directly by our collection vehicles. The purpose of this Preliminary Market Engagement (PME) is to seek input from potential suppliers within the market, to establish the type of solution and functionality that is available for the recycling of residential green waste collected at the kerbside and within our Household Waste and Recycling centres. The PME will provide an opportunity for City of Wolverhampton Council (CWC) to obtain an insight into how potential suppliers might approach the delivery of this service and gain an understanding into the likely level of interest from the market as well as indicative costs that will help CWC assess budgetary requirements. This Pre-Market Engagement will cover the following service requirements: Lot 1- Green Waste Lot 2- HWRC Waste Lot 3- Mattresses and PoPs Lot 4- WEEE Waste Lot 5- Scrap Metal Lot 6- Batteries Lot 7- Scrap Wheelie Bins Lot 8- Textile Recycling Lot 9- Clinical Waste Lot 10- Hazardous Waste Lot 11- Skip and Fly Tip Waste
