The works are to provide a new surface coating to the existing steel sheets, and to include all preparation, clearing, surface treatment and final coat, and access equipment. The areas to be treated are Level 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the western elevation and southern elevation of the roof on Zone C of the main building as shown in cross-hatching on the attached plan No 1, and all the vertical panels which can be seen from the side elevations. In addition, all drainpipes, gutters, railings and soffits to be painted to match existing colours. Prepare surfaces by removing all defective Plastisol with Chemical Cladding Stripper in accordance with the manufacturers instructions. Wash and brush to remove all residues of stripper, surface chalking and organic growth. Any damaged surfaces must be rectified. Any stubborn contamination including zinc salts must be thoroughly removed with nylon scouring pads. All residues must be rinsed off. All corrosion must be removed by mechanical means to leave a bright clean metal surface, with minimum standard grade ST3 150 850 1-1:88 feathering edges back to sound factory applied finish. Remove all residues. Apply primer to all areas of bare metal within 4 hours with one liberal even application Crown Steel Seal Primer (ref PC4CVQ) or similar approved application in accordance with the manufacturers instruction. The wet film thickness must be between 110-130 micrometers. Allow minimum drying time of 6 hours under normal drying conditions before next application. The colour of patch primer must be different in colour from that of the next priming coat.
