Description
The intended procurement is a state-of-the art x-ray scattering equipment with an overall large-facility beamline design and covering a broad range in scattering angles (wide- and small-angle x-ray scattering) in both transmission (SAXS/WAXS) and reflection (GISAXS/GIWAXS) geometry. The instrument has to accommodate many different types of samples and different types of sample environments. The instrument will constitute the cornerstone in a departmental interdisciplinary scattering facility covering physics, chemistry and biology. It is essential that the instrument is flexible and allows easy installation of custom-made sample environments made in collaboration with the local workshop. Lot 1: The Department of Science & Environment (INM) at Roskilde University will procure the equipment XEUSS 3.0 from Xenocs with a GeniX source and an Eiger2 R 1M detector in the UHR/XL configuration with a range of modular accessories. The instrument described above is unique on the market as it combines the following aspects: - It has the necessary flexibility for a large user group from different scientific fields to work on the instrument. Changing from e.g. GISAXS setup to biology high throughput setup is reasonably fast and easy. - The Xenocs BioCube accessory enables a direct injection of the sample in the measuring cell while keeping the complete beamline under vacuum either through manual pipette injection or using an automatic pipetting robot. The BioCube is the only system on the market allowing sample volumes down to 5micronl. The BioCube accessory is highly beneficial to prevent sample loss which is often critical for biologial and pharmaceutical applications. - The UHR configuration has a long footprint allowing for high resolution, low q measurements. Shortest sample to detector distance is 4600 mm which is the largest range covered by a commercial instrument. - The XL configuration includes a documented option for setting up large custom-made sample environments in air outside the standard vacuum sample chamber. In case of using the instrument in the XL configuration, the same range in sample-detector distances are covered as in the standard configuration. - The standard sample chamber has the largest volume available on the market and allows for scattering both in vacuum and in-air. Due to planned work in a solvent vapor atmosphere it is required that the GISAXS stage in the chamber can be separated from the rest of the instruments by cone and nozzle - The control software is based on large-facility standard software (SPEC) securing a certain independence from future company decisions and availability and allowing own integration of new custom-made modules.
