Peatland restoration project with a site area of 162 ha (of which 125 ha have erosion features that are to be restored) to be delivered on Wildland’s Gaick Estate in the Cairngorms National Park. Lot 1: This notice provides a statement of requirements and supplementary documents for a peatland restoration project with a site area of 162 ha (of which 125 ha have erosion features that are to be restored) to be delivered on Wildland’s Gaick Estate in the Cairngorms National Park. The work will be tendered on a fixed price basis. The works will commence in late July 2025 with an expected completion date of no later than 19th December 2025. Four low ground pressure machines will be needed to complete the project in the required timeline. Helicopter lifts of 155 x 750kg stone units (116.25 tonnes in total) and 960m2 of coir mesh will be required. It anticipated that the distance for the helicopter to travel on each flight will be in the region of 2 to 4km. Helicopter flights will have to be scheduled for once it has confirmed that there are no protected breeding bird species constraints (so likely after WC 4th August). Once the stone has been dropped on site, it will need to be formed into required function (dam/baffle/spillway/rock armour by hand). Peatland ACTION funding is secured and in place for this project.
