Summary of the work The specialist will be able to work at pace in an agile environment, from a digital perspective, be aware of user centred approach to content design and how to write and edit using style guide and plain English. They will monitor and improve content based on user research and data. Specialist role Content designer Expected Contract Length 24 months with an optional extension period of up to 6 months Latest start date Monday 3 April 2023 Maximum Day Rate Up to £450 (ex VAT) per day. Standard 8 hour working day. Expenses will not be paid to and from base location This role is Inside IR35 Who Speclialist Work With The specialist will work with stakeholders across Technology Services including Product Owners and Service Owners. Within the team they will work with Digital Delivery Managers, Business Analysts, Interaction Designers, User Researchers and Developers. What Specialists Work On The specialist will work with Digital Engagement (Comms) Managers, Product Owners and Delivery teams as part of the DWP Place (ServiceNow) suite of work. The specialist will work with the teams to develop content which effectively develops and communicates how we engagement and take-up. Skills & Experience • Associate Content Designer with demonstrable experience of creating user facing multimedia content: • Be able to work at pace in an agile environment and from a digital perspective • Have exemplary spelling and grammar and be aware of how to write and edit using a style guide and plain English • Be aware of the user-centred approach to content design and of the importance of explaining design decisions in a way that other people understand • Know why it's important to put forward the case for content design within the department • Be aware of how to plan user research and of how to use data and research to inform content design decisions • Be able to handle constructive criticism of your work and to constructively review other people’s work • Be able to understand how your work fits into the wider context of the team and department • Proven working knowledge of multimedia Content Design, particularly focusing on user facing content which engages users to understand and adopt change. Nice to Haves • Demonstrate experience of working in a large scale organisation and/or Government or Public Sector • Digital Workplace experience Work Location Primarily at the DWP Digital Corporate Hub2- St Peters Square, Manchester - although there may be a requirement to work from other DWP locations in the North West. Working Arrangments Specialist will work a minimum of 40% of their time (as directed by line management) on site at the Manchester Hub.
