Acquisition of 3 indirect calorimetry systems

Description

The Department of Nutrition, Exercise and Sports (NEXS), UCPH, has long tradition in conducting clinical research studies involving children and adults where the assessment of energy metabolism is critical to prescribe diet and exercise interventions and evaluate their effect on human health. Lot 1: We are procuring 3 indirect calorimetry systems to replace the old machines we have at FRB campus. These systems will be used to measure total energy expenditure and substrate oxidation in children and adults who participate in our clinical research studies (e.g., More2Sleep, POM-FAME) but also for teaching at the MSc programme (e.g., Experimental Nutrition Physiology). This technique (indirect calorimetry) is the gold standard for measuring resting metabolic rate, diet induced thermogenesis, and maximal oxygen consumption during exercise in children and adults. Indirect calorimetry requires collection of ingoing and outgoing air (i.e. breath) using a canopy or a face mask for about 30 minutes. 2 x Vyntus CPX Canopy ekskl. trolley 1 x Komplet version, Vyntus CPX (CPET) inkl.
