Met Éireann is in the process of upgrading its aviation observing systems through a project called the Aviation Modernisation and Automation Project (‘AMAP’), according to the operational and technical requirements as set out in Volume II of this RFT. The Irish Aviation Authority (the ‘IAA’) will upgrade its display and ATIS (Automatic Terminal Information System) systems through a project called the Met Data Processing (‘MDP’) System, according to the operational and technical requirements as set out in Volume III of this RFT. Met Éireann Requirements: The purpose of the AMAP System is to automatically acquire, verify, process, present, distribute and store meteorological information collected at the aerodromes and to supply local weather information to ensure safety of air traffic, in accordance with the operational requirements as outlined by International Civil Aviation Organization (‘ICAO’) Annex 3. The AMAP System shall operate as an unmanned system which will allow for fully automated weather observations without an observer. This project will modernise Met Éireann's aviation surface observation network, and, with the exception of Dublin Aerodrome, automate Met Éireann's aviation surface observations. Detailed specifications are set out in Volume II. The goal of this Competition is primarily driven by the requirement to provide safe and effective aeronautical meteorological observations which meet all EU and ICAO standards. The Aviation Services Division (‘ASD’) of Met Éireann is certified to ISO 9001:2008. Irish Aviation Authority Requirements: The IAA is seeking to replace its existing Met Data display and D-ATIS (Digital- Automatic Terminal Information System) systems, and is participating in this tender procedure with Met Éireann to maximise the economic benefits of this upgrade and is seeking a system / solution that will easily integrate with the Met Éireann system while maximising value for money including long term support and maintenance. Detailed specifications are included in Volume III of this RFT.
