Peatland restoration training site project at Lochportain and Cheesebay, North Uist

This is a training project on a peatland site in North Uist. Lot 1: - NatureScot Peatland ACTION, in partnership with Scottish Government-owned Crofting Estates, are looking to deliver a machine operator training project in North Uist and will run a training programme on two small areas of land to the NE of Lochmaddy. - Training will be provided to learners whilst they are carrying out the restoration on the site, providing real-life experience to existing competent machine operators wishing to gain skills in restoration techniques. - NatureScot wish to appoint a Principal Contractor, who will - provide, maintain and supply fuel for two suitable low ground pressure tracked excavators on the sites at Lochportain and Cheesebay - provide two experienced peatland restoration machine operators/site supervisor(s), for the duration of the week-long project to demonstrate peatland restoration techniques on the site. - oversee the work on the site, in conjunction with experienced Peatland ACTION staff who will be on site throughout the training programme - be responsible for Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) responsibilities and documentation for the duration of the project - record the restoration work undertaken in accordance with Peatland ACTION’s spatial data template - complete any work outstanding on the sites at the conclusion of the training programme
