The Houses of the Oireachtas approved establishment of the Citizens’ Assembly with a mandate to look at the following issues: (i) the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution (ii) how we best respond to the challenges and opportunities of an ageing population; (iii) fixed term parliaments; (iv) the manner in which referenda are held; and (v) how the State can make Ireland a leader in tackling climate change. The Assembly will also be asked to consider such other matters as may be referred to it. The Assembly will be meeting for up to ten weekends (all day Saturday and half-day Sunday) over the course of a year from the date of the Assembly’s first meeting. The Assembly will meet for the first time on 15th October in Dublin Castle however the services request in this tender are not required until the first meeting in the Grand Hotel in Malahide on 26th/27th November. Other dates will be made available in due course. The Department of the Taoiseach is inviting service providers to tender for the provision of: • assistance to the Chairperson in planning the Assembly’s meeting procedures and participation procedures; • a team of skilled and experienced facilitators (approximately 15) • a team of skilled and experienced note-takers (approximately 15)
