The Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS) is undertaking a Preliminary Market Consultation (PMC) to gather information from suppliers regarding the provision and specifications of external quality controls (EQCs) for both molecular and serological disease markers. The purpose of the EQCs is to monitor the performance of in-vitro diagnostic assays used in the Serology and NAT laboratories for the detection of specific analytes in human plasma. The serological EQCs must be supplied in barcoded vials compatible with the Abbott Alinity s testing platform and with the laboratory LIMS system. An independent monitoring program that provides statistical and graphical reports using a global peer-group in real time would be preferable. The list of serology analytes include Anti-HCV IgG, Anti-HIV 1 IgG, Anti-HIV 2, HIV P-24, Anti-HTLV II gG, HBsAg, Anti-HBc IgG, Anti-Treponema pallidum IgG , Anti-CMV IgG, Chagas IgG and Malaria antibodies. Additional analytes may be required in the future during the contract period. The molecular EQCs must be supplied in barcoded vials compatible with the Grifols Panther platform using the Procleix UltrioPlex E and West Nile Virus (WNV) assays, and be fully compatible with the laboratory LIMS.An independent monitoring program that provides statistical and graphical reports using a global peer-group in real time would be preferable. The list of Molecular analytes include HIV-1, HCV, HBV, HEV and WNV.
