Description

SPT had a requirement to procure equipment that will increase the length of the rail which can be taken in the Glasgow Subway tunnel infrastructure (Long Welded Rail handling equipment) SPT initially issued a competitive notice for the provision of long welded rail handling equipment, based on an estimate of 300 000 GBP for the supply (ref SEP219670). 1 397 alerts were issued from the publication of the advert, with 8 organisations registering an interest. From this only 2 bids were received. However, the costs proposed exceeded the initial budgeted estimate and the submitted values ranged from 600 000 GBP to 1 000 000 GBP. Therefore this VEAT notice is not a notification of award contract but is notification that SPT propose to enter into a negotiated procedure with the Preferred Bidder from our original competitive notice.
