Refurbishment of Children's Play Area - Willoughton Parish Council
Published
Description
This project seeks to refurbish and revitalise the existing children's play area on Willoughton playing field by the introduction of new pieces of play equipment, together with the laying of additional safety surfacing. To help achieve this, it is proposed that all existing play equipment will be removed, with the exception of a slide. The Council's objective is to create playable spaces that offer young people access to as wide a range of play opportunities as possible. The play area is required to meet the needs of children from toddler age through to 12 years. The Council is keen to see the following types of new elements within the play area (subject to available space and Health and Safety guidelines): (i) Wheelchair-inclusive roundabout (ii) Stand in see-saw (iii) Single inclusive springer (iv) Basket swing (v) 2 x flat seat swings (vi) 1 x toddler swing (vii) 1 x "Me-to-you" type swing (to be used by child and parent simultaneously. (viii) 3.3m high rotating cone climber (ix) Play boat with multiple elements including slide, climbing net and lookout tower (x) Flying saucer (xi) Trim trail to include balance beams, stepping stones, drop rope, traverse net, wobble board and monkey bars (xii) 3 x full size adult picnic benches (xiii) Refurbishment of existing embankment slide. (xiv) Safe surfacing The Council would like to see a site that is innovative, and which encourages and enables physically active play, and which is attractive to children from toddler age through to 12 years. Play activities should be open-access, with children free to move independently between them. There is also a need for the overall design to be a welcoming and restful place for parents with younger children to meet and socialise. All works materials and parts should as a minimum, comply with both the British and European Standards for playground equipment, outdoor gym equipment and surfacing, and be easy and affordable to maintain, with replacement parts readily available. Installation: The contractor shall supply and secure the play area, in accordance with H&S guidelines, for the duration of the work. All rubbish and excess spoil are to be removed from site by the contractor at the end of the construction works, to include reinstatement and making good, as agreed with the Buyer, to grass areas and existing surfaces. The Seller to provide the Buyer with: • full legal name of the company supplying equipment • full T&Cs that the companies propose • full written version of the warranty to be provided • quotation validity time • full breakdown of cost for each item, not just a total • does the contractor have a Quality System/member of an association? • expected length of time for the works • recommendations from recent clients The Buyer is under no obligation to accept the lowest or any quotation. Apply - Tenders must be submitted by post to: The Clerk, Willoughton Parish Council, 18 Spa Hill, Kirton in Lindsey, Gainsborough, DN21 4BA.
