Preliminary market consultation for the provision of host broadcasting services from major meetings during Ireland's Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026

Ireland will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July to 31 December 2026. During this period, an extensive and wide-ranging programme of meetings, events and conferences will be held in Ireland. These meetings will attract media attention and the Presidency must have an official television service provider - a host broadcaster. The Department of Foreign and Affairs and Trade is seeking views from the market to understand the nature, structure, capacity, and capability of the market to provide host broadcasting services. The host broadcaster will deliver live transmission of the major meetings, in broadcast quality to Europe, by satellite live coverage, while also providing an “on order” service to other TV stations.
