The Consortium BeMag Family of Schools comprises 8 primary schools located in South Cambridgeshire, south of the city of Cambridge and north of the Hertfordshire and Essex borders: — Barrington Primary School, — Fowlmere Primary School, — Foxton Primary School, — Harston and Newton Primary School, — Hauxton Primary School, — Melbourn Primary School, — Meldreth Primary School, — Petersfield Primary School. The consortium is committed to providing a high quality, nutritious catering service to its pupils which meets both their needs and aspirations. The provision of the service must demonstrate a best value approach and be flexible in its delivery and operation to ensure that the needs and ethos of individual schools are supported. Please note that each school will be contracting individually with the successful provider. The consortium considers that the need for nutritious school meals to improve the health and wellbeing of pupils is essential. The service should be an integral section of the school day and all pupils should be able to take a nourishing meal in a pleasant, orderly environment. All meals should be adequate in quantity and quality so as to be suitable for the appropriate stage within the day at which time service takes place. Menus that are developed should be appetising, and appealing to this age group. The contractor’s arrangements for the service shall incorporate due diligence in all aspects of purchasing policy, food delivery and storage, preparation and handling of food, health and safety, cleaning, care and operation of equipment. The contractor shall provide the service on every day on which each school is open for pupils to attend for teaching.
