A radiology angio/intervention laboratory will be fitted out with state-of-the-art integrated CT/angio equipment and integration of patient monitoring and possibly ultrasound for NMBU and the SEARCH centre in Sandnes. A radiology angio/intervention laboratory will be fitted out with state-of-the-art integrated CT/angio equipment and integration of patient monitoring and possibly ultrasound for NMBU and the SEARCH centre in Sandnes. The laboratory is located adjacent to the operating theatre. It must be suitable for examinations of patients (mainly pigs of different weight categories, but also mannequin simulators and possibly other animal species). The buyer wants to enter into an interaction contract with the supplier of equipment enabling research and development work of equipment and techniques at the laboratory. In point 1.1, SEARCH and cross-discipline were emphasised. Biomedical models will be used for testing of equipment, development of new methods and increasing knowledge in relation to pathology. Pigs are the animal model most used as they have many physical and anatomical similarities to people. SEARCH also has a clear veterinary medicine profile and one works closely with the agricultural industry, both cooperating organisations such as Norsvin and Felleskjøpet and private actors to raise knowledge, particularly about the pig species. Biotechnology methods, pathology and feeding strategies are relevant focus areas. As an example, SEARCH cooperates with Norsvin that uses CT equipment for selection and research on breeding animals. The multimodal laboratory at SEARCH will be a test-lab for new equipment and at the same time be a place where human medical and veterinary medical personnel can train on state-of-the-art equipment. It is important to SEARCH that the equipment package offered to the clients is future oriented and thereby gives users a particularly good learning outcome. Emphasis will be placed on optimal functionality during examination of patients with a lot of medical equipment (respirator patients). The equipment must be suitable for numerous applications, e.g. vascular angiography and intervention, non-vascular intervention with and without anaesthesia, heart examinations including coronary angiography, cerebral vascular angiography and intervention, abdominal organ intervention including the urinary tract and biliary ducts, in addition to venous diagnostics and treatments. The equipment will also be used for orthopaedic and oncological intervention, stent grafts, trauma (including complete scan and partial scan), examination of tissue composition (knuckle, fat, soft tissue and musculature) and possibly tissue /drilling sample compositions (chemical compositions/mineral concentrations such as zinc and iron). The equipment will be used on pigs of all ages and phantom/simulation dolls, possibly other animal species such as fish and dogs.
