Description
The Mat-Nat faculty's electron microscopic laboratory will procure a new FeSEM. The electron microscope will primarily be a general instrument for scanning of biological samples. There are strict requirements concerning automated methods for serial thin sectioning, mounted on a standard TEM grid or solid conductive substrates such as coated glass or silicon wafers. In addition, FeSEM will be used for a broad spectrum of biological, geological, museological and metal samples. FeSEM must be equipped with detectors tailored to the assignments. The electron microscopy laboratory at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences shall purchase a new FESEM. The electron microscope will primarily be a a general instrument for imaging of biological samples. There are strict requirements concerning automated imaging of serial thin sectioning, mounted on a standard TEM grid or solid conductive substrates such as coated glass or silicon wafers. In, FESEM will be used for imaging of a broad spectrum of geological, museological and metallic sample materials. FESEM must be equipped with detectors tailors to the assignments. The user-group is broadly composed. The microscopes will be used in educating both bachelor and master levels in multiple science disciplines. In research, the user-group is broadly composed with users from geology, biology, physics, chemistry, medicine and odontology. With this purchase, the department wants the laboratory to be able to offer correlative light and electron microscopy of the highest scientific level.
