Description

The objective is to evaluate the effects of HAB compared to ordinary MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment). The cost-effectiveness of the treatment service must be calculated as a part of the evaluation, as well as the assessment of the effect. The purpose is also to evaluate the implementation and model/organisation of HAB in the experimental cities of Oslo and Bergen, as well as assessment and recommendation on how HAB can be implemented most effectively as part of the ordinary treatment service throughout the country. The Norwegian Directorate of Health, commissioned by the Ministry of Health and Care Services, shall implement a pilot project for heroin-assisted treatment (HAB) in Norway. The objective of the experiment is to improve the health and life situation of opioid addicts who only can reach a limited extent through the existing treatment measures. The trial project is carried out within the framework of the three-party collaboration in MAT between the specialist health service, the GPs and NAV where the focus must be on patients.
