Cruise Terminal Mooring Upgrades & Electrical Spine Route

Published

Description

To improve the mooring safety of the current vessel sizes which berth at CT1, 2 and 3, the Port intends to replace and supplement the existing bollards with bollards and Quick Release Hooks (QRH) of significantly larger capacity. Due to the order of magnitude of bollard capacity increases, substantial structural works such as rock anchors and pier strengthening will be required to accommodate the proposed bollards. As well as this, the successful tenderer will undertake all necessary civils and services required for the installation of new Quick Release Hooks (QRHs) within the Cruise Terminal, including foundation construction, electrical ductwork and connections. Lot 1: Detailed design and construction (D&B) of... CT1 Berth QRHs (Admiralty Pier Reclamation) • Remove existing storm bollards and demolish their associated foundations. • Drill and install inclined ground anchors into the chalk bedrock and construct 6 no. RC foundations for new storm bollards. Cast the bollard foundations into the foundations. • Install 6 no. 250t double QRHs (125t per hook) on the newly constructed foundations. • Construct civil infrastructure (conduits & manholes) for cabling to the proposed QRHs. • Install electrical and control cabling, control panels and distribution boards for the new QRHs. CT2 Berth QRHs (Suspended Deck on Piles & Solid Block Pier Extension) • Remove and dispose of 4 no. 75t storm bollards from the suspended deck. • Locally break-out the cast-in-situ deck slab (which is cast atop precast planks) in 2 no. locations and cast new raised RC plinths tied into the deck to provide greater foundation depth for new QRH anchors. • Install 2 no. 125t single QRHs on the CT2 suspended deck in the locations of the newly constructed RC plinths as noted above. • Drill and dowel anchors into the solid block pier and cast an RC slab above to transfer the mooring loads to the dowelled anchors. • Install 3 no. 250t double QRHs (125t per hook) onto the newly constructed RC slabs dowelled into the solid block pier as noted above. • Construct civil infrastructure (conduits & manholes) for cabling to the proposed QRHs. • Install electrical and control cabling, control panels and distribution boards for the new QRHs. CT3 Berth QRHs (Admiralty Pier Extension - Grade II listed) • Remove asphalt surfacing in 5 no. locations along the pier where new QRHs are proposed. • Carefully remove the original pier paving stones (granite sets) in the 5 no. locations and store for re-use. • Break-out and dispose of the portland cement and mass concrete blocks in the 5 no. locations to a depth of approximately 900mm below pier surface level. • Drill, install and grout in place dowels into the mass concrete blocks of the Admiralty Pier Extension in the 5 no. discrete locations. • Construct civil infrastructure (conduits & manholes) for cabling to the proposed QRHs. • Construct an RC load spreading slab and QRH upstand in the 5 no. locations to connect with the installed dowels. • Cast the QRH foundations into the upstand of the RC load spreading slabs. • Re-install the original pier paving stones atop the new RC slab within a cement setting. • Lay asphalt surfacing atop the re-installed paving stones • Install 5 no. 250t double QRHs (125t per hook) on the foundations cast into the upstands. • Install electrical and control cabling, control panels and distribution boards for the new QRHs. Electrical Spine Route & Miscellaneous Civil Works • Construction of an approximately 430m long buried electrical and communications services route to accommodate approximately 50 no. cables. • The electrical spine route is situated along the Employer's Heavy Load Route • Approximately 8 - 10 no. large electrical services pits (2.5m x 2.5m plan) will be required. • Replacement of CT2 terminal ISPS fencing either side of the terminal building (incl. revised alignment). • Removal of the CT2 coach parking bays and resurfacing of coach drop-off area. All Quick Release Hooks (QRH) will be provided "Free Issue" by the Employer
