Provision of a Sports Pitch Allocation System

Throughout the DLR local authority area, 40+ sports clubs use 90+ sports pitches for training and matches. DLR believe that new opportunities exist for improving processes and reducing costs. Key among these has been the opportunity to streamline the pitch booking process by allowing clubs to self-manage their booking and payments. This will be achieved by developing a ‘Club Portal’ which clubs can register with and log into. Additional processes will facilitate communication with the clubs such as notification of changes in upcoming bookings due to pitch closures etc. The key business objectives to be realised by the implementation of an online sports pitch booking system are presented below: Improve Service Offering • Optimise utilisation of pitches • Ensure pitches are rested periodically • Facilitate pitch use inspections • Ensure fairer system where by clubs can make a booking based on need • Ensure pitches are only booked for sporting events they were intended for • Facilitate easy and responsive reporting • Facilitate online payment for bookings Better Customer Experience • Provide a portal for clubs to self-manage their bookings • Provide greater transparency on pitch use • Communicate pitch condition updates to users • Provide alert mechanism to inform end users of events they need to be aware of • Support mobile and tablet devices
