Description
The CRU, with the consent of the Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, directed EirGrid under Regulation 28(10) of European Communities (Internal Market in Electricity) Regulations 2005, in its capacity as the Transmission System Operator, to secure the delivery of c. 450MW of emergency temporary generation. In fulfilment of that direction, [EirGrid, through a wholly owned special purpose vehicle (EirGrid SPV 2022 DAC) procured from the market electricity generation plant for the purpose of subsequent transfer of that plant to one or more electricity generators in accordance with the EirGrid, Electricity and Turf (Amendment) Act 2022.] The present procurement relates to the appointment by EirGrid of electricity generators to provide 450 MW of generation onto the transmission network by a target date of winter 2023 / 2024. Lot 1: Installation and Operation of Electricity Generation Equipment Shannonbridge The procurement was conducted in accordance with the negotiated procedure without prior call for competition, pursuant to Article 49 of S.I. No. 286/2016 - European Union (Award of Contracts by Utility Undertakings) Regulations 2016. EirGrid under this agreement is engaging ESB to conduct installation and operation services at Shannonbridge. Lot 2: Installation and Operation of Electricity Generation Equipment Tarbert The procurement was conducted in accordance with the negotiated procedure without prior call for competition, pursuant to Article 49 of S.I. No. 286/2016 - European Union (Award of Contracts by Utility Undertakings) Regulations 2016. EirGrid under this agreement is engaging SSE to complete installation and operation services at Tarbert.
