Description

The final design, construction and bringing into use of a new railway station located at the intersection of the Worcester to Oxford and the Birmingham to Gloucester railway lines on the B4084 in the vicinity of Norton (see detailed location above). The proposed contract is for the final design and construction of the railway station to include: — 3 platforms, — Station building, — Passenger footbridge and lifts, — Site preparation, — 500 space car park, — Flood Mitigation works and drainage, — Internal roadways, — Footpaths and lighting, — Track and signalling works (the construction element of track and signalling works may be undertaken by Network Rail). As an option, the associated highway access and realignment including a roundabout on the B4084 and flood mitigation works to a culvert under the B4084. The scope of this proposed contract is to: — Produce a GRIP 5 detailed design based on the employers requirements, the GRIP 4 approved design provided and the planning consent and associated conditions, — Obtain all necessary design approvals and consents, — Design and manage all utility connections and diversions, — Construct the station and associated services and deliver a fully operational station facility before the December 2017 timetable change date, — Test and commission all elements of the construction in accordance with the specification and standards, — Provide as constructed information, O&M manual and health and safety file, — Manage and coordinate handover to Train Operating Company and Network Rail. The contractor will be expected to fully participate as a member of the project team and to identify efficiencies and savings within the design in order to produce demonstrable value for the Council. The overall programme for the works is commencement in February 2017 with completion in February 2019.
