Description
Measures will be carried out for the former municipal landfill at Gangstøvika, cadastral no. 100, title no. 137 etc. in Ålesund municipality. The aim of the measure is to ensure that contamination from the landfill does not spread into the surrounding environment, and, primarily, to ensure that the recipient, Ellingsøyfjorden, and the landfill can be closed in accordance with the requirements in the waste regulations §9-15 with Annex III. The public administrator [Statsforvalteren] for M&R has set forth requirements for the implementation of the measures for closure, and the deadline for the necessary measures to be completed is by the end of 2023, Refer to the attached document "Information on the Project" for a description of the project along with various drawings and descriptions. Lot 1: Overall, the measures will include the following general areas of work: - Reallocation of filling slopes, resolution to stable inclines. - Establishment of a pile wall in the stone filling that encloses and separates the landfill from the ocean. The length of the pile wall will be approx. 375 m and the depth will vary from approx. 5 to approx. 27 m. The sheet piling must have sealing locks/sealed constructed. - Reallocation of the surface. - Digging and installation of ditches for the interception, collection and drainage of surface water. - Drilling and setting of 6 wells for bilged leachate. The wells will be set in the stone filling behind the pile wall. Bilge water will be led through a sand trap to the ocean. - Establishment of a system for gas drainage. - Laying a sealing membrane over the entire landfill, including slopes towards the ocean and terminating in front of the pile wall. - Securing the area after the membrane has been laid. Securing can consist of spreading of topsoil, or alternatively a base layer covered in gravel as an option. - Excavation matter must be sorted and reused to the greatest extent possible. Surplus matter will be deposited in a designated area. Deposited excavation matter will be included in the secured volume. - Waste encountered during the work must be collected, sorted into fractions and delivered to an approved reception facility. Excavation slopes and surfaces must also be cleared of protruding waste before the membrane can be laid. Reference is made to details in the quantity descriptions and drawings for more detailed descriptions of the individual operations.
