The Gobbins Visitor Centre Interpretation Project

Description

The works comprise the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing visitor interpretation and exhibition spaces within The Gobbins Visitor Centre, Islandmagee, Co. Antrim, to create a modern, immersive, accessible and engaging visitor experience. The project forms part of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council's ongoing investment in The Gobbins visitor attraction and is aligned with the wider vision for future development of the site. The refurbishment will transform the existing exhibition area through the introduction of innovative interpretation, enhanced audio-visual storytelling, interactive displays and improved visitor facilities. The scope of works is anticipated to include, but not be limited to: • Careful strip-out and removal of existing exhibition fit-out, graphics, display elements, AV equipment, roller shutter and associated fixtures. • Internal alterations including demolition and construction of non-structural stud partitions. • Installation of new acoustic separation measures, including insulated stud wall construction and an acoustic curtain system. • Alterations to ceilings and finishes, including installation of specialist acoustic treatments and associated decorations. • Provision of new exhibition infrastructure, display systems, interpretation panels, graphics, bespoke joinery and visitor furniture. • Installation, integration and commissioning of new audio-visual and multimedia equipment, including immersive presentation facilities, projection systems, digital displays, sound systems and associated controls. • Electrical modifications, including fire detection adaptions, lighting adaptations, power, data and specialist exhibition services. • Associated fire safety, accessibility, acoustic and building services works. • Testing, commissioning, staff training and handover of all exhibition, AV and building services installations.
