New Darwin Construction Project Phase 1 - Pre-Construction Services

The University of Edinburgh has appointed a supplier to fulfil the role of Principal Contractor to complete construction of the New Biology Project (New Darwin Building) at the king’s Building Campus. The building shall deliver new research, teaching and innovation facilities for 130 researchers, 140 postgraduate students and 20 innovators within a 5525m2 (GIFA) ‘zero carbon ready’ building, and 1097m2 (GIFA) of extended/ refurbished space; including a link bridge to Waddington/ Rutherford, localised refurbishment of space within the Swann, MEP, and Roger Land Buildings. The University’s commercial commitment at this point is restricted to the Pre-construction Services element only, separately identified in the bids Lot 1: The University of Edinburgh has appointed a supplier to fulfil the role of Principal Contractor to complete construction of the New Biology Project (New Darwin Building) at the king’s Building Campus. The University’s commercial commitment at this point is restricted to the Pre-construction Services element only, separately identified in the bids. The contract is a call off from expected to run from RM6088 Construction Works & Associated Services (CWAS), Lot 4.2: Scotland Construction Works & Associated Services (30 - 80M). If successful at stage 1. Stage 2 will run for 94 weeks from 29th June 2026 to the planned completion on 17th March 2028. A separate award notice for Stage 2 Construction will be published on PCS if awarded.
