Description

Short description: DVSA wants to engage the market and explore what software it may be able to licence to create its own computer generated imagery (CGI) of scenarios to be used in the driving theory and hazard perception test in Great Britain. DVSA uses CGI clips in its Driving Theory Tests. The tests are delivered in England, Scotland and Wales. 2.2million tests were delivered in 2016/17. The tests comprise two sections: multiple choice questions and hazard perception testing. The hazard perception test was introduced in 2002 using actual film clips of driving scenarios. These were replaced with CGI animation in 2015.The CGI is currently generated by an animation company using 3DSMax software to produce e-learning content for learning and assessment. DVSA is also looking to use CGI within the multiple choice question section of the test, to improve accessibility and potentially enable different types of question. We are exploring software that we can licence, which could enable the DVSA to create some or all of this CGI content ourselves.
