Description
The realignment of the last 400m of the River Tromie through the excavation of a new channel, lowering embankments, and the formation of riffles and bars using river sediments. Lot 1: The project will realign the last 400m of the River Tromie as it flows across RSPB Insh Marshes reserve and joins the River Spey. The work involves excavation of a new channel, reprofiling historic ditch embankments, transportation of the spoil to a storage area approx. 1km away, and the creation of fish friendly features in the new channel to ensure fish habitat and passage. Insh Marshes nature reserve is highly designated as such operations must be carried out with due consideration for the sensitive wildlife and habitats. The designations also limited the construction window to between mid-August to mid-October.
