Provision of Legal Service

Description

The Scottish Land Commission is looking to appoint a contractor to provide accurate legal advice to support the statutory functions of the Tenant Farming Commissioner, including the preparation of Codes of Practice and associated casework, and provision of general advice on landlord/tenant matters. The Commission is looking to appoint a service provider to deliver legal services to support the role of the Tenant Farming Commissioner (TFC) including: - Preparation of Codes of Practice - the Codes provide a framework of procedures and proscribed behaviours that take into account relevant legislation, providing a basis for constructive dialogue and a consistent and transparent approach to negotiations. Landlords and tenants, and their appointed agents, are expected to abide by the Codes. - Guidance - the Tenant Farming Commissioner has published a number of guides to topical issues within the tenant farming sector. - Casework - the TFC provides information to tenants and landlords regarding the Codes and general advice on landlord/tenant matters. - Agricultural holdings legislation – advice on current legislation, proposed changes and new legislation. The appointed service provider will be expected to understand the work of the TFC, have extensive experience in all legal aspects of agricultural holdings legislation and understand the wider agricultural holdings policy context in Scotland. The service provider will be expected to engage directly with the TFC and Head of Tenant Farming as requested on a needs basis. The work will not be regular or necessarily predictable.
