Description
St. Olavs Hospital will make a direct procurement of 6 new IntelliVue MX750 with the necessary accessories. Lot 1: The current patient monitoring at St. Olav is Philips, which was delivered by Vingmed. When the new hospital was built (construction phase 1 in 2003, construction phase 2 in 2007), there was a contest for the patient monitoring system. Philips monitoring system was chosen in accordance with the requirements specification. When St. Olavs Hospital HF procured new anaesthesia apparatuses in 2012, the Philips monitoring system was chosen as the integrated monitoring, with an option for further procurements of new anaesthesia apparatuses. A contest was held for the patient monitoring systems for the other trusts: HNT: 2012 (Levanger and Namsos) HMR: 2010 (Ålesund), 2014 (Kristiansund), 2017 (Volda). After this there have been continual procurements of Philips patient monitoring equipment for St. Olav as replacements for equipment, as well as for expansions to the system. Philips patient monitoring was expanded in 2017 to a regional system with HNT and HMR. I.e., we have joint servers (a total of 8), with the accompanying stations (a total of 69), connected together as a large system. The system has a total of approx. 1500 monitors of varying models that are connected to the different 69 stations and then to the server system. The system is one of the Nordic countries' largest systems. It is operated by MTA together with Vingmed. A SMA (Software Maintenance Agreement) was signed with Vingmed in 2019, which obliges Vingmed to have the required updated software and configuration in the entire system. The contract ensures the latest software and guarantee for running time in the system. Units in the system are only compatible with Philips products and accessories/interface approved by Philips. Units from other suppliers are not compatible with the Philips system and cannot be integrated in the existing patient monitoring system. Implementing other systems for patient monitoring would be extremely costly and challenging as regards infrastructure, training, patient safety, running costs and efficiency. St. Olav Hospital at Øya was built in different phases, with staggered procurements of MTU (medical technical equipment) and patient monitoring. In recent years some of the oldest monitors have been replaced with new monitors. In addition, the hospitals are being continually developed, and an increased need for patient monitoring has hastened the need to procure Philips patient monitoring equipment. Investment/completion; anaesthesia apparatus in 2022: New anaesthesia apparatuses were procured in Q4 2021 for St. Olav, which have been placed in departments in 2022. The outgoing model for anaesthesia apparatus had patient monitoring from an equivalent manufacturer as the anaesthesia apparatus. In order to have uniform patient monitoring in the anaesthesia department's anaesthesia apparatus, new Philips MX750 monitors will be procured. As St. Olav Hospital, Trondheim (Øya) is built up according to the centre model (Neuro Centre, Women-Child Centre, etc.), with theatres in most of the centres, and the nurses and doctors in the anaesthesia department often switch which centre they work in, we depend on an identical patient monitoring system in order to ensure patient safety and efficiency with known medical technical equipment. The intensive care and recovery wards connected to the theatres (where Philips patient monitoring is currently used) have Philips patient monitoring. In order to ensure patient safety, as well as efficient and economic hospital operation, the same type of patient monitoring is required in both places so as to avoid switching patient connections on newly operated patients from the theatre to recovery/intensive care.
