European Clearing House for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)

Description

Following the EU Commission decision of 4 July 2022 on the financing of pilot projects and preparatory actions in the field of transport for 2022, EASA has been tasked to carry out a project to develop and evaluate the setup of a European Clearing House for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). With this procurement EASA is seeking an implementing partner to set up and support the operation and core functions of the European SAF Clearing House. Lot 1: The following main activities can be identified for the European Clearing House: — pre-screening of new fuel and production process projects, including advising fuel producers on their fuel and production process, to increase the likelihood of producing a sustainable, technically and commercially viable SAF; — navigate producers through the fuel approval process, with funding contributions to support fuel testing and research report costs; — assisting producers – including those following approved production processes – through key stages of product development, from early assessment to ongoing due diligence testing. This includes, where necessary and feasible, providing guidance on Sustainability Certification Schemes; — contributing to efforts to streamline the existing fuel approval process without compromising product performance and safety.
