Description

The Abbey Carpark is in the heart of Ennis town centre and adjacent to the River Fergus. This proposed development will be located in this carpark which is on the west side of the River Fergus. The riverbank is lined with a flood protection wall and a small river side footpath. A riverside promenade will be provided along the river connecting the site and the river into the town. The through road is an essential traffic corridor and cannot be impinged on. Pedestrian access routes need to be developed to connect the site to the town centre which will take into account parking locations, park and stride locations, schools and residential areas. This Masterplan is to complete a site feasibility study and Concept Design on the optimum development strategy. It will include a review of the potential to deliver a large retail facility but may also include other mixed uses if deemed suitable. The Masterplan / Concept Design must consider adjacent Ennis 2040 transformational sites such as Abbey Riverside (across the river) and up the river to the Harveys Quay Development.
