What Specialists Work On The University of Plymouth is seeking a supplier to work with us on a three-year project to enhance the University website. The University has some in-house development expertise and is looking to supplement that with external resource from a partner. Our requirement is to establish an Agile development team for successive two-week sprints with developers experienced in Ruby on Rails. This team will supplement the University development staff to enable an increase in velocity for this fast-paced project. It is essential that suppliers have the capacity to mobilize for the commence the project on Monday 10 January 2022. Skills & Experience • Have extensive experience of Ruby on Rails • Experience of working to agile methodology • Capacity to meet the start date and continuous two week sprints. • Be able to evidence working within a fixed budget Nice to Haves • Evidence maximizing the deliverables and outputs from Project Budget • Working to a fixed budget as per above criteria Work Location The University of Plymouth Working Arrangments We anticipate the level of resourcing required to average at 2-3 developers for the duration of the project. Team size could either be constant for the full duration of the project, or scaled to increase capacity over a period of time. There is a preference for sprints to be conducted on site in Plymouth, but we are open to supporting remote working. Is there an Incumbent? Yes there is but we can not name them as they may wish to re tender. 2. Apart from Ruby on Rails is there any other set of technologies you are expecting developer to be proficient on? The nature of our project means the following list of preferred proficiencies and technologies is not exhaustive, and is subject to change. Ruby on Rails is a key requirement alongside obvious capabilities in HTML, CSS and Javascript to meet accessibility requirements, across our front end and back end, on a wide range of devices and browsers. Other desired proficiencies would include: Elasticsearch, APIs, server-side technologies, MySQL databases and data formats such as JSON, XML and CSV.
