Summary of the work Reporting to the Lead Solution Architect of the UKHO Marine Information Transformation (MINT) programme, the requirement is to migrate the authentication and authorization solution for the existing Core Data Platform (CDP) and supporting Linux infrastructure, from OpenLDAP + standalone Kerberos to Microsoft Active Directory. Specialist role Developer Expected Contract Length 6 Months Latest start date Monday 17 September 2018 Maximum Day Rate £600 Who Speclialist Work With The consultancy is required within the Marine Intelligence Programme What Specialists Work On • Work alongside administrators of the central UKHO Active Directory (AD) authentication and authorization solution to move the existing MINT Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), currently implemented using OpenLDAP and standalone Kerberos, to AD. The design for the new group structure in AD will be provided. • Extend the RBAC solution with additional groups and permissions for finer-grained access to target systems. Detailed requirements for this will be provided. • Carry out the above tasks concurrently with ongoing MINT activity involving migration of the CDP from one Hadoop distribution to another, as well as a move to new business premises. Skills & Experience • Demonstrable experience of working as a technical SME within a project environment, using Agile methodologies. • Expertise in the following technologies: Ansible, OpenLDAP, Active Directory • Expertise in Linux system administration, especially CentOS and Red Ha • Understanding of security of UNIX systems, especially CentOS and Red Hat • Experience of administering network security including configuring firewalls, Kerberos, LDAP and SSS • Experience of version control using Git Nice to Haves Experience of working with Hadoop clusters Work Location United Kingdom Hydrographic Office, Admiralty Way, Taunton, Somerset, TA1 2DN Working Arrangments Full-time, 5 days a week.
