Bymiljøetaten (the Agency for Urban Environment) carries out commercially sustainable forestry in summer and winter. In order to maintain continuous operation, the Agency for Urban Environment needs two modern and reliable forwarders that have sufficient capacity and are environmentally friendly. There is a need actively run Oslo municipality's areas in accordance with the multiple-management plan's goals and guidelines. There is particularly great need for first, and to some degree, second thinning of both spruce and pine, and there is a need that this occurs in a sustainable and careful manner in relation to the public impact and risk of track damage in the terrain. In 2019 the Agency for Urban Environment carried out the procurement of a logging machine in-line with the needs description above and as the first part of acquiring a modern operating unit for forest care of the Oslo Municipality forest property. Thus, a John Deere 1070G logging machine was purchased that now functions in the forestry operation. The forwarder fleet needs to be renewed and then the needs below will be the focus: Overall there is a need to be able to operate terrain transport in connection with forestry operation and nature care for as long as possible in order to achieve a sufficiently high level of care and felling quantity. This must be done in as environmentally friendly and efficient a manner as possible. In addition it can be announced that the Agency for Urban Environment manages a large forest property of very different topography and hydrology and on several sites there is up to 1.5 km distance to the forestry road.. Therefore there is a significant need for a machine type with good accessibility, low ground pressure and a certain capacity in relation to load ability, without fulfilment going beyond good ergonomics and working environment. There is also a need for a warranty and service contract for the machinery for a longer contract period after delivery. The contracts are necessary so that the Agency for Urban Environment gets machinery that can operate with minimal production disruption due to machinery faults or damage that can occur. The forwarders must be factory new.
