Appleton Academy, located in Wyke, just south of Bradford was opened in November 2012 after an extensive design and build phase, which led to the creation of a new 22 000 000 GBP building to replace 2 predecessor schools. Appleton Academy is an ‘all-through’ school, which caters for ages 3-19 in 1 building and, as such, the building has been designed to create a seamless transition of pupils between phases with children ‘growing’ with the Academy through the building. Since opening, the Academy has been nominated for several design awards and was recently the recipient of a Highly Commended award from SCALA (Society of Council and Local Authority Architects). The Academy is looking for a cleaning contractor who will be their partner in excellence, providing a high-quality environment in which the students can achieve their potential and in which they can aspire to be the best. The successful tenderer will be required to provide cleaning services at all the buildings that form part of the Appleton Academy, providing a breakdown of cost for specific buildings. The Public Library will also fall within this contract and forms part of the Academy's building footprint. The cleaning service is currently outsourced to a cleaning contractor. Any company wishing to be considered for this contract must be able to demonstrate experience and depth of knowledge in the management and handling of TUPE issues. The contract will commence on 1.1.2016 for a period of 5 years on a 3 +1 +1 basis. This contract will be fixed price in nature with the successful contractor working to an output cleaning specification which complies with the British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) standards.
