Lot 1: Strengthening fishing governance in Guinea (207129 / 207130) This is the first project financed by a new donor OCENAS 5 planned over 3 years (from May 2021 to May 2024) with an approved budget of USD 954,910 that is subject to an annual validation process. GRID-Arendal is the main organisation for this project and is cooperating with three project partners: Regional Partnership for Coastal and Marine Conservation in West Africa (PRCM), Trygg Mat Tracking (TMT) and the Ministry of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Maritime Economy (MPEAM) from Guinea. The main goals for this project is to strengthen fishing in Guinea and reduce IUU fishing. This will be achieved through three main goals aimed at technical capacity support in order to fight IUU, national legal fishing and regulatory framework factors, and improvements to fishing transparency. Each of the three goals will be achieved through a specific set of results that lead to a long term influence on the reduction of IUU fishing activities and strengthening fishing governance. The concrete project goal that this procurement will see to is the general coordination of the project as project manager for GRID-Arendal. This will include the coordination and reporting work with the donor OCEANS 5, supervision of the different partners' activities and reporting, and coordination of GRID-Arenal activities. NORAD Investigative Journalism Grant (205270) Since 2015 GRID-Arendal has given grants to investigative journalists that work on different questions related to environmental criminality. There is a pressing need to set environmental criminality in the searchlight for international attention, and it is here that investigative journalism can make a difference. The grants are to support investigative journalists by covering costs connected to research (travel, obtaining documents, interview, etc.). The goal of the project is to get convincing stories from reality on how environmental criminality affects the environment and the people who depend on it. It will contribute to keeping environmental criminality on the international agenda and will support journalists that would like to support the fight against environmental criminality through investigative journalism. The concrete project goal that this procurement will see to is the general coordination of the project as project manager for GRID-Arendal. This will include coordination of the different ongoing investigations and publication of them, preparation, and selection of the next grants together with long term development of project strategy, and the follow-up process of previous investigations that aim to increase this project's influence on the international scale. Transboundary governance and environmental criminality development (205274) The project 'COASTAL: Climate smart Opportunities for Adaptation, Sustainability, Training and Livelihoods' is being developed in cooperation with PRCM, which will be financed by the Blue Action Fund. The project proposal has been accepted and the donor is carrying out an internal verification of PRCM. The specific project goal that is to be addressed by this procurement is to help with the completion of the GRID-Arendal engagement's design, build on the relationships that have recently been established with the project 'Strengthening Fishing Governance in Guinea' (including in relation to drones that are used in MCS of fishing activities), and support their implementation. See the reference terms for further information. Send a tender to procurements@grida.no and mark the email with 'Project Manger for the Programme Transboundary Governance & Environmental Crime'. Language (all communication with the client will be in English).
