Description

Drydocking Services for the Belnahua ferry. Argyll and Bute Council are looking to appoint a contractor to undertake annual maintenance and repair of the vessel Belnahua. “Belnahua” was built in Campbeltown Shipyard in 1972, designed specifically for vehicular and passenger traffic at the Cuan Crossing between the islands of Seil and Luing in Argyll. Constructed of steel in accordance with the M.C.A. rules for a Class V1(A) passenger ro-pax vessel. The vessel is side loading with small ramps on the starboard side forward and port side aft to facilitate loading and discharging at sloping slipways. Has a small accommodation block on the starboard aft corner with space for passengers and a wheelhouse above to give a view over vehicles. This arrangement of ramps allows a “Drive Through” facility for vehicle traffic. Powered by twin Perkins Sabre Diesel engines with hydraulic steering and twin rudders.
