2026 Aberdeenshire Dementia Service - Holistic & Community Support

Aberdeenshire Council requires the provision of suitable and adequate holistic and community support services to support Service Users within North, South and Central Aberdeenshire. Holistic Support: Information, advice and support will be provided for Service Users throughout Aberdeenshire with signposting to advice and support for their carers offered. Services provided will be flexible and respond to the needs of Service Users. The Service Provider will ensure the safety of the Service User in daily living through continuous prompting and advice. Interaction with appropriate groups and individuals in the community will be encouraged. The Service Provider will endeavour to raise general awareness of dementia amongst professional workers and the general public and promote the development of dementia friendly communities across the region. The Service Provider will establish and maintain clear communication channels with the public, partners, and colleagues, sharing relevant information, and will advertise all events widely throughout Aberdeenshire. Developments in knowledge and learning will be shared with all relevant professionals and service users as appropriate. Community Support: A community development programme will be provided for Service Users. The Service provider will establish, facilitate and support self-help groups in North, South and Central Aberdeenshire. The Service Provider is responsible for: providing Service Users with information regarding the Services provided, which must include a complaints procedure. Ensuring that if any Service Users have difficulty in expressing their views, the Service Provider will make sure they have access to information to enable them to secure the services of an advocate to represent them. The Service Provider is under no obligation to find such representatives but will allow representatives to work with Service Users should this be their wish. Additional information: Aberdeenshire Council may require the service specification to be amended to meet its requirements over the duration of the contract; and in response to changes in legislation and statutory guidance or where outcomes demonstrate the benefits of an amendment or in the event of additional funding being made available for service development from other sources (including the Scottish Government).
