Description
Culvert 1: Culvert number one is the culvert crossing the Waterloo Road to the south of the cemetery entrance and provides stormwater drainage of the area to the east of the cemetery. Water is collected in a ditch approximately 40 cm wide by 100 cm deep running parallel to the east cemetery boundary. The interior dimensions of culvert 1 cross section are 1.1 meters wide 1.0m high. The road pavement thickness above the culvert is of the order of 330mm. Culvert 2: The interior dimensions of culvert 2 cross section are 1.5 meters wide 1.55m high. The road embankment and pavement thickness above the culvert is of the order of 300mm. Culvert 3: Culvert number 3 lies to the west of Waterloo Road and collects water from the west side of the area. It also collects all the water from culvert number 2 passing under the road. The interior dimensions of culvert 3 are 1.85m wide and 1.1m high. The Road embankment and pavement above the culvert is approximately 1.4 meters deep. The depth of the top slab of the culvert is 150mm. Requirement: The scope of works involves replacing the existing culverts (3 No.) by construction of new culverts at the existing location. Based on stormwater flow calculations, the required internal dimensions of Culvert number 1 (South) are 2.0m wide by 1.2m high, and for Culvert number 2 (north) are 2.0m wide by 1.2m high and for culvert number 3 (east) 3m wide and 1.2m high. The works on site will be carried out by complete road closure. Complete road closure will mean that road traffic will be diverted from Waterloo Road, so that the road will be closed for traffic and then the works may be constructed without any traffic passing through the site. No phasing is required and therefore both culverts may be constructed at the same time. Construction works may be carried out, within the road corridor and outside the corridor without particular concern for traffic management through the site.
