Description
This work is being carried out as part of the Centre’s Digital Communities Wales programme. Digital Communities Wales: Digital Confidence, Health and Well-being, is a £5 million Welsh Government programme helping people to learn new skills, get online and use digital technology. The programme helps people gain the maximum benefit from life-changing opportunities provided by the internet and digital technology, such as gaining and retaining employment, accessing health services and improving their well-being. The 3 year programme (with the potential for 3 more years) began on 1 July 2019. It provides digital inclusion training and support to organisations working with older people; people with a limiting long-standing illness, disability or infirmity; unemployed people or vulnerable people; so they can help those they support to improve their digital skills and confidence. A significant element of the Digital Communities Wales programme involves enabling people to try different types of technology, to this end we offer kit loans to organisations all across Wales. As a result of additional funding provided by Welsh Government in response to the Covid-19 pandemic we procured a large number of new devices last year which all need to be managed on a Mobile Device Management (MDM) system. We manage 1,760 devices on our current system, these are primarily iPads and Android tablets (Samsung, Lenovo). With the contract for our current MDM supplier due to come to an end in October 2021 and a requirement for additional capacity to accommodate new devices purchased over the coming months we require an MDM solution which starts in April 2021 running through June 2022. It is anticipated that approximately 200 devices will be added in April 2021, with the rest of the devices (1,760) migrated from our current system prior to October 2021.
